Suddenly come on. AC has stopped working as well.

I assume the ECU switches the AC off or something?

Doesnt seem to be any change in performance though? Not that I've driven it far or fast...

I guess I should take it to Fiat dealer asap?

The Air Con most probabily needs regassing. There are lots that need doing around this time of year as people generally dont used it throughout the winter months, the seals dry out and the gass leaks out. So when it gets a bit warmer people put thier air con on and it dosent work. You can get it re gassed from most garages (kwik fit/national/nationwide) and halfords do it too.

As for the Engine light best to get the codes read too see what the problem is. Usually the light comes on refering to faulty lambda (how ever you spell it :p) sensors.

Well, I actually bought the car about 2 months ago and then found out the AC didnt work at all. Took it back to the garage and, to cut a long story short, they ended up replacing the compressor and regassing it.

That was about 2 weeks ago and it worked OK until the other day.

Update today is the warning light has gone off but the AC is still not working. I've taken it back to the garage I bought it from to look at the code and the AC (they';re a Ford dealer!)

So what IS the lambda sensor? Seems to be a lot of them are faulty !!!!

It monitors the gasses in your exhaust and changes the fuel/air ratio. If you have a faulty sensor (i.e. sending wrong readings back to ecu) they sometimes give the car a rough idle and loss of power up til 4000rpm.

If the sensor is broken completely (i.e. as it it wasnt there, sending no signal back to the ecu) you will get an error light and the car will revert to a standard default setting, you will usually loose fuel economy when this happens as the default mixture runs rich.

See what error code you get from having it read, this should point you (or the garage) in the right direction. i am only guessing as to what the light could be meaning.

Thanks for the info...

To be honest, I've had a feeling that economy wasnt what it used to be...

I'll wait and see what the garage says...

OK. Apparently, some valve or other in the AC system is screwed so they're ordering a new one.

Asked them about the warning light (Which has gone off now) and they said nothing was reported when they plugged in the diagnostics. I thought if the light came on it stored the fault code in the log? Are they having me on a bit here?

Yes it should store a code in the ecu/body computer.

You say they are a ford dealer, so they wont be using the fiat examiner software to check the codes. Its likely it will need to be scanned at fiat on the examiner software to identify the error code.

Although it all is well at them moment (no loss in perofrmance, economy etc...) i would be inclined to wait and see if it comes back on again, the going from there.
