Can anyone help please. My 17 year old son has just passed his driving, and pass plus tests, and has bought a 2002 Punto 16v Dynamic. We bought it privately, and it has had one owner,full service history and has done about 44,ooo miles. Today, the engine warning light (the one shaped like an engine),came on permanently,and the car has been jerking and shuddering when driven. I suppose it will mean a trip to a Fiat dealer, but apart from the cost aspect, I haven't ben impressed with any I have used so far (Denkale in Hayes, and Palmers in Watford). I would be grateful if anone could suggest what the problem might be, or possibly suggest a good independant local garage in the Harrow area.

could just be some thing simple like a lead or coil, dont know any thing in watford except red dot and they more of a tuners, we have a forum meet there tomorrow, get your son to drive over and one of us might be able to spot the problem

Thanks for your reply. He's now told me that he THINKS he might have filled up with diesel instead of petrol. He's not sure. He had about a quarter of a tank and filled up, but he then drove it for about ten miles after. I would have thought that it wouldn't have run at all if that was the case?. I'm not convinced he has filled with diesel, but if he has, any ideas as to what to do next? Kids eh???????/

it would be dead if it had that much diesel in it, and you would be able to smell it if you took filler cap off

Would a Diesel nozzle fit in a 2002 petrol Punto? They don't fit in most cars that run on petrol, so it's doubtful he's done that.
