ive got a punto 1.2 8v year 2001

Sometimes when i start the car the light stays on , does not flash just stays on. Other times start the car the light goes off as it should do, car drives ok with light on or off.

owners handbook says its a warning of fuel/ignition failure and that prolonged use with the light on could cause damage.

Anyone any idea what the cause could be ?

to follow on from my post i've Just had the punto in my local garage for diagnostic test
it came up with Code P0352 coil 2-3 Short circuit. or words to that affect
Yet the car still runs fine light on or off no spluttering or farting.
Mechanic said because it does not say anything specific like the coils knackered theres not much he can do says i need to take it to a specialist who can pinpoint the exact fault, he says just might be a loose wire or something like that.

Anyone had this type of problem, I would appreciate any help

im having the same problem, but also the coolant light comes on too even when its cold. did you fix it?
