My black Mk2 daily driver failed its MOT becuase i didnt have time to check it over before the test. Spent all these weeks working on the 2 repair projects that i guess i neglected my main car

- Rear shock bushes
- Tracking was out and new trackrod ends needed ideally (knew that one already though)
- Siezed handbrake cable
- Rear shoes and drums want replacing
- 2 New tyres needed (knew that aswell.)

Should be able to have them done in a day but thats not the point - i feel kinda embarressed to have run it down like that Cos see I used the same guys for all my MOTs and everytime there pretty much spot on cos ive been working on then, fixing fail item etc... then i turn up with that

I know what you mean

Be thankful your MOT is only once a year - it's every six months for most of us in NZ.

I've actually had the reverse situation - where both my 'fix-up' projects actually got a WOF first time, no problems... That's one of the reasons why I love my 164. It's just sailed through its second WOF (in my ownership) last Thursday without a care in the world - my Uno Turbo can never do that, even though it lives in the garage - there's always balljoints or bearings worn out...

New cars over here have a once-yearly WOF up to six years of age. My 166 just got its last-ever one-year WOF on Friday. My Punto got its WOF today - the only problem was the airbag warning light which I turned on by accident when I unplugged the instrument cluster last week. The Punto had a one-year WOF last year, but it's every six months from now on.
