Hi guys... any help here would be grately appreciated!

Firstly the knocking - only really noticable with heavy load in the rear, ie. a passenger! Obvious 'clunking' sound from rear with hard bumps and especially when pulling away.

Secondly the whistling noise, really only when the car is cold, high pitched whistling associated with increased revs, lasts less than five mins until engine is warm. Hav had cam belt checked and all is apparently ok...

Lastly (this is minor, just a bit annoying), if its been raining, when I start the car up and rev when stationary I can hear water being forced out somewhere. If I don't rev before I pull away, the car is a big sluggish for while.

Thanks for any help.

hi! welcome to the forum

rear noise; have you had your exhaust changed as if its not fitted correctly it will knock against the rear beam or bottom of the car

whistling; have you had the alternator belt checked, could also be a tensioner on its way out

water noise; you probably have an airlock in the cooling system and need to bleed it

Hey i have had all of these problems or similar on my punto and my diagnosis would be.....

Knocking could be that the exhaust is a bit lose and is hitting at the rear or if you have a squeak then it probs could be the handbrake cable rubbing on its supports.

The whistleing noise could be the air filter is on wrong, as i had this problem and it went when i got my focus induction kit.

The water noise is cuming from the heater matrix proberly signifying an air lock in the cooling system, the cure for this is to bleed the system through the two bleed screws (one on radiator and other at the back of the engine bay near the bulk head) alternativly you can flush the system and refill it.

Hope that helps(y)
