punto 1.3 multijet with its engine light on. had codes read (po106) tried to clear codes can anyone tell me whats the problem.

Hi mate...

P0106 = manifold Absolute Pressure/ Barometric pressure circuit range/ Performance problem.

Are you getting any problems with performance etc?

Cheers,
Alan

Supercharging pressure sensor is a common fault on all early 1.3 mJets and fixed with a new (modified) sensor.

hi, is the pressure sensor known as the boost pressure sensor ( in the inlet manifold)? if so when the plug was pulled off it picked up another code.

Hi mate,

Have you tried disconnecting the MAF? Are you getting poor performance at all??

Cheers,
Alan

hi alan, the vehicle came in a bit flat and with the light on, code po106 was on iv tried to clear but comes back on as soon as i start car. what sensor would you suggest?

Sounds like the MAF sensor to me. Its number 7 on the diagram below. Disconnect it, reset fault codes and then start the car and take for test drive. If the powers back then its most likely your problem. You can clean the element in it with some contact cleaner as sometimes this does the trick rather than replacing it.

Hope that helps,

hi, if its the boost pressure sensor why hasnt it come up with its own code?

Lol, T I WONT bet against you!

Why not..i'm wrong just as much as right(and i'll happily admit it:))...just going by past experience on these 1.3's.

hi, if its the boost pressure sensor why hasnt it come up with its own code?

Often doesn't,best way to check is measure its output voltage. (who read codes for you?)

when i pulled the boost sensor connector off, it pulled its own code and not the po106 code so thats why its strange. the po106 code could mean its a choice of sensors?

I've been out in the cold and had a look at my multijet, and think i have located the MAP sensor that i thought it didnt have. lol Its at the rear of the engine, on the inlet manifold to the left. Is this what you have disconnected?

Alan

when i had the code reader on i disconnected it to see would code it would pull then reconnected in.

when disconnected the pressure sensor it pulled its own code. i then cleared codes but code 106 remaines.

It will produce another code when you disconnect it because that code will be saying that there is no signal from it at all. The code that you have got at the moment is saying that there is a range/performance problem with the sensor. I would say you probably need a new sensor as suggested by DannyBoy and T.
