somebody Help me Please!
I parked my car(Mk1 P-reg punto sporting, 1.6)to play my regular game of 5-a-side and it was going fine. When i came out an hour later, however, it just wouldn't start. I thought it might be the fuel filter so i bounced it a bit and it started... for about 10 seconds then cut out. It sounded like there was no petrol, but it's not the pump-there is petrol getting in. The yellow code light comes on and stays on, but when i tried the emergency start-up process with the red key, nothing happens. The injection light doesn't come on at all, and I'm pretty sure it used to come on for a few seconds when I started it up. I know the immobiliser kicks in when the ecu doesn't recognise the code, but i don't know if this is definitley the problem.

Any help appreciated!:I

not sure if this helps, but my mk1 wouldn't start the other day, so i had a fiddle around in the engine bay, and found that one of the small wires going into the starter motor was loose. I tightened it up with a socket, and hey presto it started. Just thought you might want to check it.

Check the fuses in the engine bay for corrosion/poor connections if the injector lihgt not on it should mean that the ecu is not powered up. you need to get a few more things checked to diagnose fault, do you have a spark, fuel injected in the throttle body.[?]

There's no spark, which implies to me that it's something to do with the immobiliser/ecu.
There's fuel getting through so it's not the fuel line. I really think it must be the ecu, coz I had a leaky heater matrix a while back and it leaked onto the ecu. I dried it of course, but the damp might have taken a while to do the damage.
It all seems to point to the ecu, but I don't know enough to be sure.
Do you guys think I should just get it checked by a fiat garage? At least then I'd know either way. I've been told it would cost £25 - £40 ish.
