Hi
I have just changed the timing belt on a '95 Punto 55 (1100cc) and now it won't start. The belt went on OK (marks lined up on crank, cam and belt), there's compression, spark and fuel. I've run out of ideas - does anyone else have any, please.

TDC sensor, its the thing you mounted back onto the top of the end wheel. the wire going to it is known to be quite brittle.

ALSO that goldie looking wheel, called the phonic wheel (I think) this can go back on in any of 4positions, 3 of which are WRONG/ chances are this is what the problem is (causing your ignition to be 90, 180 degrees out of sync).

you need to strip the drivers side wheel and arch liner off again, undo the phonic wheel, and reinstal making SURE that the TINY little metal tab on the crank pulley is positioned thru the tiny hole on the goldie looking phonic wheel.

also try cleaning the muck off the phonic wheel.

if that fails, you will have to test/ replace that cable from TDC sensor into the wiring loom, not fun, but possible.
