Hope someone can help. Had thread on here after my car broke down and the rac man had no clue and towed me home! I established that the fuel pump was no longer working, any how, changed the pump, still no luck, no one can figure it out. :bang: The car turns over fine but there is no power getting to pump.Have tried the button to the side of the passenger seat(dont know what its called!!) but it is already depressed! Any ideas? Have a special edition m reg 1995 90 elx injection 1.6. thanx Saraxx:bang:

Rather different that ECU, think its a GM unit.
The immobiliser unit is not very clever comprising of a switch to the ECU batt+ supply. and thats probably where the problem is.
Check out the supplies to relay K46 and to ECU:-
K46
Red lead = batt+13v
Red/sw? = switched ign+13v ***
sw = gnd
Red/sw = Batt+13v to ECU pin F3

*** Switched ignition supplied from immo circuit, if missing then strap a cable from switched ign+ to here.
If needed fit an aftermarket remote to switch in the power to ECU.
Checkl the above out and post back if you still cant get it going.

Thanx will try that when it stops raining. The rac man said it could be the immobiliser so i had that taken out. The warning light that looks like a spark plug came on when i broke down but doesnt come on when turning the key anymore, hence no power, will try that though thanx and let you know.

hi i had the same problem and it turned out to be the fuse under the black box in the engine bay where the relay is,i bought a new relay after being told it was that by the rac and it was the fuse so try there hope this helps

I vote the relay, this is what switches the pump on after it has read the code from the key.

Its a big white thing under the black cover as the hunter describes (at the back of the engine bay in line with the battery almost.

I just did some things on my car as follows

unplugged ingnition/fuel pump relay turned key on injection warning light stayed on code light which is triggered by engine ecu stayed on car had no fuel pump power and no spark ie engine ecu not running as the relay does both

removed fuel pump fuse injection warning light came on went off as normal code light came on and off normal but obviously engine will not start as no fuel pump as this is the only thing the fuse is for but we all new what would happen without this fuse

so as your car has no fuel pump and no ignition warning light it would suggest a blown fuse else were like the 40a ign fuse or a dead engine ecu triggering the lights on dash to not illuminate

can you give us a few more details just check again for me does your injector light and code light act as normal I know you have already said you have no injector light but can you check again and check all fuses again
the one I'm interested in is the code light if this is not going off or not coming on it suggests a dead engine ecu

I think the engine ecu on a 1600 is under the heater box and they have a habit of getting wet when heater matrix's fail have you had a heater matrix leak in your car recently any damp in foot wells steamy windoes ect

Well thankyou all for youur help. The only lights that come on now on the dash are the battery and oil lights when i turn the key. Changed all the fuses in the box but the battery is now flat so cant check it yet!!!! Waiting for the old man to take it out to cahrge but you know what men are like! Hopefully will charge it tonight and i'll let you know. But will try all the other suggestions, if the light isnt coming on at all what should i do?

no lights whatsoever sounds like you have serious electrical problems

I would have to look at a wiring diagram to find out exactly how those lights are powered and earthed to find out which bit is causing them to not illuminate

as it happens i have a workshop manual on cd right here so if i can make that work i'll have a look

there is no 1600 on the cd I have

but from what i understand the injection warning light is controlled buy engine ecu and the code light buy the code box under the dash

so looks like you have loss of power to these items or an earth problem somewere

check 40a ign fuse and jb1 and 2 also

Changed the fuses but still nothing. Still just the battery and oil light when turning the key.:bang: Where are these fuses? Changed them all next to the steering wheel but no 40? And which relay can i check and where would it be earthed? Can i do it myself??????
