hi

my central locking dosent work but the FOB works i have two of them just woundering if the fuse has gone which 1 is it and il replace it and hopefully it will work

its for a mk1 sporting i dont have a manual so i cnt look there

many thanks

right hand side of the steering wheel, undo the 2 screws in the cubby-hole to reveal the fusebox...the fuse you are after is called F10 shown on the map by a sidelight symbol. It's a 15A fuse that also controls the cigar lighter, interior lights, radio power supply, boot light, map light, clock.......so if any of those are working then the fuse is fine.

It might be the reciever for the c/l that isn't working. Look in the boot...left hand side I think. Under the speaker shelf bit there should be a black box with an LED lit up on it. Either that or it's on the right hand side :p
That's the normal reason c/l stops working.

well the thing is the whole locking system isnt working when i press the FOB i can't hear any motor noises and nothing happens
i have 2 FOB in which both work theres an LED on the FOB and they both light up wen i press the button

this is my theory on that the fuse has gone

but a friend told me the central locking system locks itself up if its not been used in a while if this is true how will i know ? and how will i get it sorted

and how much roughly will it cost to get fixed i dont want to be spending £000's on it

many thanks :)

I don't think autolocking was invented back then....if it was it certainly wasn't on Punto's!
If the fuse had gone on the c/l there'd be a whole host of things stop working as I mentioned above....try the interior light, that's on the same fuse.
It could be the relay....or the reciever box. It could even be the battery in the fobs is too low to send the pulse, but strong enough to light the LED.
Have you tried operating the central locking with the key in the lock?
