I have a MK2 year 2000 (W Reg) Punto sporting and the driver's side window slides down fine but going up sticks and starts making loud noise like gears are slipping in it.

We've removed the side panel to expose the door and put silicone lubricant along the edges of the door and the windows still sticks on the way up. However after removing the motor we found the window slides up and down easily enough by gripping it between your hands.

Is the gearing inside of the motor housing?

Where can I get a spare like that from easily in NW London area, UK

BTW Someone mentioned it may just need an adjustment?

What kind of adjustment would that be?

I think it's motor related because the motor / gears still keep pushing up when it gets to the top and making loud noise - unlike the passenger side which just seems to know when to stop and is quiet.
