Not sure if this has been asked before. Kinda thought it would have been but couldn't find anything on search.

Anyway, having never seen a MK2 1.2 under the bonnet, is the MK1 1.2 8v SPI similar/identical to the MK2s? I.e, did fiat revise it at all when they produced the MK2? Will MK1 engine components fit the MK2?

And finally, will a Mckrich chipped 1108 ECU work on a MK2 1.2 8v?

Cheers.

the mk2 has a rolling code immobiliser so i doubt the chip will work., i think i remember hearing that the mk2 engine has a lot of the mountings for stuff in different places but the engine is pretty much the same other than that.,

The mk2 are closer to 60bhp than they are 75.
The mk1 has more power due to a few changes...
I guessing the mk2 doesn't use the 866 cam...swapping it for a less agressive cam set.
The ECU probably has a few difference in how it controls the injectors.
Possibly a more restrictive exhaust as well.
There was a topic about this a little while back...DavetheTrike had some inputs into what changes were made...so he might be able to clear it up a bit ;)
