The engine stalled in low revs when pressing the clutch - usually when approaching juntions, parking lots etc. Didn't even use a cleaner, just a rug, some spit from bottom of my throat and gently scrapped the black residue around the butterfly with a screwdriver... That O ring that is holding black tube to the TB was made of PVC with locking zipper - whatever you call it. You can't unlock it in order to reuse it therefore you will have to pray it sideways with a scredriver and break it.

Posts: 1 Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: 0 | Re: 1.2 16v Throttle Body Removal, Clean and Re-Fit My situation seemed even more desperate. F22 15amp blew; fault display throws up dramatic 'engine failure'. Relaced fuse, which got me home. Checked wiring diagram; T9 relay (30 amp) seemed likely candidate; replaced (£13.80 Fiat); engine started, but now lumpy idle. F22 blew within 30 yards of driving, oh dear! Fiat say: new ECU needed (Kerching!) Saw your brilliant post, but didn't have female star socket to move ecu mounting (do now), so pushed open butterfly valve and just squirted loads of CC into intake throat and was amazed at all the black gunge that came out (46K miles). Reassembled; now runs like a dream. My theory is; as valve is motorised and gummed up, it struggled harder to open, drew more current than usual and popped F22. Fiat must know this, but must also do a very nice line in £1000 ecu's. N.B. for the misers out there; the carb cleaner came from a pound shop and had twice the contents of the one from a motorists store that begins with H and sold at £10.99! Our 2006 Fiat Idea Eleganza 1.4 16v is a brilliant mini mpv and love driving it.

Posts: 2 Thanks: 0 Trader Rating: 0 | Re: 1.2 16v Throttle Body Removal, Clean and Re-Fit I was told i had an ecu problem but i wasant convinced as i dont always trust garages and it turned out to be a faulty ht lead but prior to knowing this I followed this Guide on cleaning the Throttle body, step by step. Brilliant it is But now i have the high idling between 1500 - 2000, All wires are correctly positioned and Iv'e tried all the reset tricks but to no success. I Really have 2 questions, firstly When i did the removal of the TB i Removed the butterfly screws, then thought hmm i better not mess with these and placed the screws back in, (now im thinking ive altered the butterfly position, but im not sure on the correct possitioning or if infact the tightness of the screws etc make any difference? Also i noticed when the butterfly is placed it doesent fully close unless i push slightly and it closes but theres a little spring back, is this normal, thanks Also i attempted to change the positioning of the Butterfly but as i was turning the star shaped screw it snapped, I luckly have removed the broken part, but i just dont know were to get a replacement screw or what size these infact are.

| | Re: 1.2 16v Throttle Body Removal, Clean and Re-Fit Hi. I cleaned Throttle Body on my punto. I put everything back in place it was, then started the car it was running grand for a little while, but then lost all the power i was pressing the accelerator but rmp wot go up. Then i restored ECU- run the car everything seems to be ok, after about 10 min rmp goes up more than 20k and starts to bounce up and down. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanx
