Hello all, wondering if anyone has had a similar issue.

Today whilst I was driving I got an error message along the lines: 'Power steering fail, check handbook' and sure enough - the power steering had gone completely. I had turned it from 'city' mode to the other mode about 40min before that.

Also about a week ago I got the message 'oil pressure low, turn off engine'.

Of course I need to take it in but wondering if anyone has had similar issues?

Thanks

I have had similar power steering problems recently, the car had been sat for a week+ going nowhere so the battery was probably a little flat.
Took it for a good run and its been fine since.

I had the same problem in mine, it never occurred again after I turned the city mode off , i don't think its intended to be used often

If you can, check the battery voltage with a multimeter and report back with the voltage before starting the engine, and while running.

If the voltage shows less than 13v while the engine is running, your alternator is on it's way out and the electric power steering can't operate correctly. Equally, the alternator can't charge the battery sufficiently and you will start to get issues with random warnings on the dash.
