Hi all,

I've just had my 11 plate Evo fail an MOT due to the MTEC DRL's, MTEC sidelights and Nightbreaker dipped beams being "incorrect" colour.
(see images here) https://www.dropbox.com/s/fq6f24lvf9ax3j9/IMG_20160429_164853.jpg?dl=0

The test centre passed my car last year with the same bulbs in so I think this year I've been unlucky in receiving a fussy tester

I remember reading previous threads of people buying these bulbs so was wondering if anyone else has been failed whilst having them installed.

Also, on the advisory it states my rear tires are perished. There's small cracks all over so I'm wondering if these genuinly need replacing. (see images)

Also the exhaust has been classed as deteriorated. There's flaking rust but nothing major. Wondering if you chaps deem this as needing a new exhaust. If so I'll get a half decent one. Maybe Novitec :slayer:

I just think that this test centre is taking me for a run. Or their tester is way too picky. The previous year they tested my front tyres as having 6mm tread depth at the lowest point. This year they've marked it as 7mm lowest depth  Am I going mad in thinking the depth should be DECREASING over age, or is that too logical ;)

I've got the same bulbs and mine passed fine. I'd maybe try somewhere else but first ask about the bulbs?

Probably get grief for saying this but why night just put in a set of cheap bog-standard bulbs, have them reinspected then swap back your current bulbs?

Its mostly down to the testers opinion.:yuck:
Is the garage part of the good garage scheme and how busy are they?
My MOT tester of choice is good garage scheme listed and is also extrememly busy ...

I had it a few years ago had a car serviced and was told 2 tyres badly cracked and aged.
Car was due a 2nd mot so just 4 years old
Then a week later had MOT (at a different garage to one who serviced it)
passed no advisories... spoke to tester re tyres response "seen worse there's a good few thousand miles left in them yet" continental

Have had my 2012 punto MOT recently same MOT tester as above
"2 tyres badly cracked" (but they are michelin and are prone to it apparently)
also they are a bit worse than yours.
However my exhaust is in worse condition and wasn't noted....

I took my 2012 - on conti's -
to a halfprice MOT place HOPING they's find any suspension issues - before warranty expired.., ;)
passed completely.. for £27(y)

TBH my tyres LOOK perfect..
those bridgestones do look poor..
what mould AGE are they..?? ,
the week and year are cast into a lozenge shape on the sidewall eg.2912

That's the plan ?

Ooohhh I'll have a look later. Didn't know tyres had this. Thanks for the tip.

UPDATE:

My rear tyres were 6 years old so they definitely had to go!

Swapped the front bulbs with cheap-o one's that I'll rip back out soon as they're really poor on dark country roads.

The exhaust is good for a little while but I'll replace before this winter. Another few months of wet salty roads and it'll fall off most likely ?
When putting a new rear silencer on, does it have to be sawn off from the centre pipe and the new one welded or clamped on? Never had to deal with this before.

I emailed VOSA about the bulb issue and they strongly advised that the tester should of put the bulbs down as an advisory as it's such a grey area. Interesting.
