Hi,

Thanks for reading. Punto is 2010 GP 1.4l 3 door.

I usually do the service myself, but decided to take to the garage as hit 40k and I wanted belt and braces. Mechanic gives us a ring to ask us about the misfire - never noticed before. Misfiring under load. Now, until the service, there wasn't a misfire that I had noticed - but this was very obvious, at high revs in a gear we were bunny hopping all over the place.

Mechanic does his thing, finds a deteriorating plug lead, and changes. No problems. Now the wife has got the car for work, she's describing "juddering" when trying to accelerate, which only disappears when she changes up. (Noticed this twice in a 40mile journey).

Are we now being hypersensitive to things? I drove on Friday for a long yomp, and it ran like a swiss watch.

Is it worth changing plugs again? No codes on diagnostic.

Anyone got any ideas?

did he change all 4 leads?

did he change the plugs?

i'd start by taking the plugs out and assessing the colour and condition of the plug....

and from experience recently do a compression test as had i done that first off with mrs andy's mk2 1.2 punto i'd have saved myself the cost of replacing the entire ignition system :bang:

Thanks for the reply.

I'm under the impression he changed them all, but seeing as this problem occurred after the service, I'm going to whip the plugs out to check them. As for the leads, he said he found a deteriorating lead which he claimed was causing the misfire - whether he replaced all of them, or just the faulty one remains to be seen (would be livid if that was the case, as I'm sure they come in packs of 4 - so would be very idle to change just 1).

I can't get my head around it, because it's intermittent, only under load, and very occasional. (and part of me thinks it might be down to my wife's driving style).

Bloomin' cars.

Hi,
IF you scan for errors it MAY state which cylinder misfire was detected on.., ;)

:idea:some cars give better access if you remove some sensor wiring, double check they are all back on correctly..,
