Hi all,

I'm not sure where the best place to post this is as I don't think it's model-specific but I'll try here first.

If the remote key blade isn't closing completely, can the problem be resolved by purchasing a new key casing or is there likely to be wear in parts not in the casing? I've tried to atach a photo but the attachments button doesn't seem to work for me - probably some setting on my computer. Anyhow, when closed, the blade doesn't lie quite flat. Nothing major, everything still works but it's just not very pretty

Also, I've found various places on the web advertising the covers and the cheapest seem to only provide the shell, not the keypad cover or anything else. Are the more expensive ones (eg at the bottom of the page fiat.mopar.eu/fiat/uk/en/accessories, click on punto and key covers) supplied with keypad cover and badge?

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Charlie.

I had previously read that thread and this bit rather put the frighteners on me : New used case and key bought from ebay, with a minor modification to the case (small bit of plastic cut off and grease applied due to different key style) the key now closes flat.

I don't think I'm up to minor modifications and I wasn't at all sure about getting a used key - I really only want the case (and only if it'll definitely resolve the problem).

I'd be tempted to take the case apart and see what's holding it out, use one of the Youtube guides..

I'll try and find a better thread..,
using SEARCH in "advanced",

I have the same issue with mine. It does bug me, but not enough to pull it apart.
Although I wouldn't mind new casing as the previous owner must of kept the key in a blender ?

I know what you mean. On closer inspection of mine, the top part of the case is missing and what remains is cracked, chipped and scuffed. Although removing the rest of the case for a closer look at the innards ought to be dead simple, it doesn't want to come apart - although some of the cracks widen quite satifyingly. I suspect glue may have been involved.

Perhaps I'll just live with it as it is. Or I may bother the dealership I got the car from to see if they can help - they have been extra helpful so far with a couple of defects that weren't covered under their guarantee and which I should have spotted before signing for the car and driving it off.
