Hi, I have my 2010 Fiat punto Dualogic in the fiat garage and after going through the diagnostics I am told that because the gearbox is not finding a gear it is most likely the gear box actuator or the gearbox has seized. I have been quoted for £1700 for the actuator to be repaired does anyone know how much I would get for the car as it stands as I don't want to fork out £1700. Any help appreciated

hi there is only 34000 miles on the clock. I really do not know what to do.
do you think it would be worth repairing as I just have no confidence in these dualogic gearboxes

1st, are you confident they know what they are doing..??,
it's a complex system--BUT not "rocket science",

there should be a host of fault codes generated - as well as servicing /set-up requirements.

£1700 replects their Labour rates,
a different garage could be @£1000..,
where are you based?

use SEARCH on here in "advanced" for more gearbox related info, ( Grande Punto section..)

Hi, I have a five year old Fiat Punto Evo with only 24000 miles on the clock and been advised the actuator needs replacing. I heard there is an ongoing fault with actuators on Fiat cars. Is this true and if so are there any links I can go to to get more information? Thanks.

Hi there all. most the time with this problem its will be the clutch that is not working as this box is really just a manual box with a actuator unit on top very simple really to look at. always look at it as a manual when connected to a computer . with engine running what is gearbox speed on live data if not 0 rpm its the clutch would you try and put a car in to gear if you have not press the clutch.
