So, thought I'd join this forum as I've been reading some posts on it over the last few days.

I'm 26 and have never had the need to drive, I've always worked close to home and up until recently have never had to really drive anywhere. In the last year I've bought my own place and am now a little further away than I'd like to be. I've decided driving is now something that I need to do and after thinking about it for awhile I'm quite excited to actually have a little more freedom to do more. Anyway, my friend owned a punto mk2 a long time ago that I used to think was a nice car and so I started out looking at second hand Puntos.

Anyway, I start semi intensive driving lessons next week and this is now waiting for me on the drive.

For anyone interested, I picked this up for £2600, it has done 25,000 miles and is pristine.

I just hope you can afford the insurance on it too, being your first car, no license or NCB yet etc.

Hi and welcome,
If you need any help with insurance at all then please feel to drop me a line.
Regards,
Dan.

£2600? jesus christ thats cheap... everything all good under the hood?

It is a CAT D car. Basically it was involved in a knock with in a month of it being first purchased. The insurance company then agreed to do work on it as it was so new. It was then inspected to insure work had been done correctly. My dad is a mechanic and gave it a good looking over before we parted with money. It was sold much cheaper due to the fact it had to be advertised as CAT D.

I think I got a bargain as judging by the history the knock that it had was very minor but we'll see.

.. you never know the bump may have just been cosmetic mostly but extremely expensive. As long as its been inspected carefully and with a mechanic in the family it looks good... time will tell though :slayer:

Correct me if i'm wrong, but always thought a CAT C/D car had to be officially written off, and then fixed to be classed as that?

Purchasing a car that has been in a bump and fixed doesn't put in the CAT D band. I think it's the V5 it mentions if it's been previously written off.

However if the above is correct and it isn't a CAT D, then you have found yourself a bargain my friend!
