They did say what it was but can't remember 100%!

Ill post on here Monday evening hopefully with the proven fixed :)

No worries and ok cheers!

And that's what I was wondering Charlie, hope it is covered as it's been like it ever since I bought it!

all covered under warranty..??,
Charlie
Covered under the dealers warranty. They did try and get Fiat to cover some as the cost but they refused as its just outside their warranty period

Is it still covered by Fiat's warranty? If you complained about the problem during the warranty period and they said it was fine when it wasn't surely they would have to cover the cost if it did turn out to be a fault? :worship:

Well new turbo unit has totally solved the problem.

Technician said it was the valve inside the turbo rattling, not sure if he meant the diaphragm for the waste gate or something else?

Thank you very much for your help, will hopefully be able to get mine sorted now that I know what the problem is! Cheers!

No problem, just let us know how it goes!

I managed to diagnose the problem by using a similar method show in this video

Not sure if the aftermarket forge actuator would cure the problem. Worth a shot if the turbo is out of warranty I guess!

Will do mate!

That's pretty interesting, will see what they say and if the warranty does not cover it then I'll definitely look into it! Thanks again!

The sound has just occurred on mine it is the exact same. I have pinpointed it to the turbo I think. I will take it to the garage tomorrow to see if they know what it is after all that is what warranty is for I will keep you Lot informed fingers crossed it gets rid of it. What do they say FIAT (fix it again tomorrow) lol

Push for a new turbo if you can! Completely cured the problem on mine

I'm getting there slowly, one day I hope that hideous noise will be gone and I'll have a shiny new turbo unit although my Fiat dealership are a pain in the... Still on at them though so hopefully they'll be reasonable with me. A lot of money otherwise!

I see, does this uprated actuator is for the GT1446 (Which is fitted to the Abarth Punto Evo's) cure the rattling problem and also slightly increase boost levels?

Also I imagine this would be a cheaper option than the forge one as that is £134 plus p&p.

I have watched the video on earlier page where a screw driver is held on the bar coming out of the actuator which calms the rattling down.

I will try this later on mine and report back.

It can probably be just the actuator thats rattling but can't see that happening. I wouldn't suggest fitting that actuator onto the Gt1236 as it porbably won't fit. Also the GT1236 is VGT whereas the GT1446 is a FVT (Fixed vane turbo).

The uprated actuator will increase boost dependant on the spring fitted. Also, it will help keep the boost at the high rev's aswell which is where small turbo's run out of puff.

Is the noise coming from the actuator or the turbo? I seem to be lost with it all now!My car performs how it should, 37 mpg and makes that noise as in the video on the thread but not as loud.
I originally thought it was the engine cover rattling on tick over when I revved it up.
