Well the start to me story now is ive had my from new evo for over a month or so and still no stop start no matter what i do.....

so decided to ring the dealership and to my suprise they had nothing on and said we can have a look straight away, so dropped my car off at 10am ish

i rang at 4pm to see how my car was they said it will be ready to drive at 5pm so off i went (10mile trip to the dealership) got there they said wont be long. then the man came out and said oh erm the battery is virtually flat it will take al night to charge or bring back another day.. i was shocked and said u dragged me down here for a car i carnt drive away and why didnt you tell me over the phone ??????? repley was oh we thought it would be ready for you :bang: what that mean thought

has anyone else had poor after care with arnold clark. think ill take it to fiat dealership next time.

(battery dead over a month and i dont leave light on etc)

Is this a Fiat dealership you took it back to?

If not take it to a fiat dealership only fiat dealers have access to the correct fiat diagnostic kit which will tell the tech why the car isn't doing the start stop thing..... Perhaps it needs a software update / reset so the car knows what a healthy battery looks like (not 100% sure on that so dont quote me) ;)

If the battery is low on charge you need to find out why do you do lots of short journeys? have they tested the alternator output and charge circuit? and the battery's actual condition?

Yeah andy its a fiat arnold clark dealership. but theres normal fiat dealership a bit further away.

most of my journeys are around 15 mile each way to work and back its only a month  old though thats why im puzzeld for how they described the battery is nearly flat

i dont know how to test the alternator or the circuit output, or the battery condtion beacuse it hasent got the view lens if batterys have them now. if the seald now i dont know

the car is under warrenty then try a fiat dealer any problems try contacting fiat uk for advice they seem to be able to point you in the right direction..

My start stop was the same when it was in for the first service they tinkered with it on the fiat computer and updated its software..

sometimes it works and others it doesn't my journey is about 9 miles each way...

but the battery been flat is strange

start stop supliment from fiat can be seen in this post

for the obd11 port to work ignition needs to be on, so even if there was some power in the battery it could have lost some when it was in there, power check would have been the last job maybe so service reception didn't know it was under spec for release when they said come and get it

Well i collected my car a couple of hours only like erm 30hrs to charge a battery and to do a flash update  must be a very slow charger indeed but im happy to say the S&S works fine now getting around 47mpg on my 1.4 gp

tbh i dont think they finshed the car the day before, when the rang me to come down it was a bit of piddle take tbh, that why from now on its going to genuine fiat dealrship not a fiat arnold clark.

Why, they fixed your car? Arnold clark have loads of Fiat dealerships across the country...who are these genuine dealerships?

I did say it was a slow charge, it's not your normal battery/battery charger as I have already said, it need pulsed charged.

genuine i mean like none arnold clark dealerships, yeah it fixed just took about 30 hours to charge a battery and for a flash update on the software.

well when i first picked it up the s&s unavaible kept coming on for about 2 days constant, so i tunred on the drl light no heating etc just radio so i wasnt draining the battery and it went away. and after a month of driveing no s&s so took it in for the worlds longest battery charge, come on electric cars charge quicker than my battery my older bro with his 500 has had poor serive at our local arnold clark so now takes it to a fiat delarship

if they put it on quick charge it would have been no good and could have even shorterned the life of the battery, strange to moan about having a proper job done.

like i said the obd11 port needs battery power, software update is done through obd11 port. they could have bung it on quick charge and give it you back, but that would have caused you problems at a later date.

stop start batteries are not cheap, if they had quick charged it and shortened its life it wouldn't have done you no favors

my moan is about dragging me to the showroom 15 mile saying you car is ready to go, then sit me down in the show room and say its not ready :bang: you can have it now but bring it back another day or leave it with us. by this time my bro was back home so he had to come back out.

all i expected is my new car to work. and im happy its fixed though :)

James, arnold clark are genuine fiat dealerships and rate highly across the UK as do the technicians. I really dont understand what you are trying to say? Also as Dave said you got the car sorted so I really dont see the issue?

Electric cars have nothing to do with stop/start systems, no offence but you clearly dont understand the workings of the system. I work daily with this system and can assure you the fiat dealership (arnold clark) done the correct thing is charging the battery correctly and with the right 'dealer supplied' charger and by updating the ECU.

I do apologize im getting my self confused im just fustrated that my car isnt working from new, I had a vw from new and that spent more time in the workshop then on the road, with solinoids not working boot barrel wearing out twice and constant pipes and door seals perishing etc, just expected more from my new fiat

Im gratful that my car is now fixed, but like i said my gripe was saying you car is fixed come pick it up, got there and they said well it isnt fixed you can either leave it here or come back another day. i had to do a 30mile round trip to say keep the car overnight a simple phone call would of been better.

sorry for my confuesing rant
