Hi folks, when I had an old Scenic I would carry around enough tools that it took 2 hands to carry the toolbag.

Now I have a newer (and hopefully more reliable) car I dont think I need as many tools.

Can anyone list the general size sockets, spanners etc whatever generally needed for an Evo Dynamic 1.4 ?

Also, storage of them, has anyone found a good storage location for tools? I took loads of stuff out of the scenic when I got rid, from spares to blankets, first aid kits, hi viz jackets etc. There is absolutely no room for anything in the evo, a little space in the spare tyre well but I intend to get a full tyre to go there.

I am wondering about maybe making a bracket go in the engine compartment, something like the battery one but on the drivers side where there is loads of room. Then using something like an ammo box either bolted down or secured with bungee cords.

Any suggestions?
Are there any hidden storage areas you know about behind something?

Cheers,
Evosteo..

You can bet your bottom dollar that what ever you need you wont have with you :bang:

Just the range of fittings and fixings alone over the older GP noticed a few items that used to be normal bolts been changed to Torx and E-torx, That and needing a 7mm brake calliper Alan key over a normal spanner

Suppose the standard Cable tie and duct tape to hold bits together that fall off and a 12v test lamp would be handy

That and a laptop with FES and all the associated leads and plugs

Yeah, well I spent all this money expecting not to have to join aa/rac. lol

But being an ex scout I always go prepared.

Any comments on the storage?I suppose that adding a little extra weight in the front will help in the winter for the few days it snows :)

This post just reminds me of my dad with his older cars, a bag of towels and spare towels, but sadly there were all imperial tools and that shows the age of when he had them in his frist a car a Vauxhall Magnum. so they sit in the shed now.

Tbh id join green flag like me, with home start and nation wide relay so if i break down i can say take me home, only £60 this year and peace of mind.....

I carry a big selection of tools but been employed as a factory worker/ fitter i use the tools at work but always handy to have

Problem is no matter what you carry with you you will always want something that is in the workshop or in the garage at home....

Had a coil pack go on my Ford ka (stop lauging) and it dropped into limp mode... Had a look at the road side could see it was the coil pack had the tools in the boot to remove it......... But then what? Unless your car dies within walking distance of a motorfactors who have the failed part on stock your stuffed :bang:
