I was wondering if anyone in the know, would know how much a new Blue&Me Control Unit would cost from a dealership?

Only wondering because I'm getting pissed off with trying to select 16gb of music via a pathetic dashboard display rather than my tomtom device (10 plates don't support it, 11 plates do).... If i could get a new Blue&Me Unit, id assume Media Player functionality would appear on my tomtom & I'd think about getting the new Blue&Me TomTom 2 device.

Just encase people are wondering following my previous posts on the subject, I've been enquiring with Fiat about this issue for months... and ultimately they took my chasis number etc and a few weeks later they got back to me saying my car doesn't support Media Player functionality via TomTom.

We've got people on the forum who work for fiat & sell fiat parts etc, so someone will be able to answer, plus i'd rather ask here than rolling over and admitting defeat infront of the dealership over this issue. ;)

Is it not just a software update?

Unfortunately not, 2011 plate Evo's are fitted with a different B&M Unit which allows for the tomtom media player function.

I strongly believe Fiat are at fault here since alot of the pre-evo launch footage included the "Media Player" option in videos/reports.

But, if the parts relatively cheap i'll stop fighting & just buy one of the new ones (I've been told upgrading 10 plates with the 11 plate unit works) but if there ridiculously priced I'll have another pop.

Mine's a 60 plate and has the media player function on the tomtom, and ipod control without an adapter.

Hey, Blank2k2,
I realise your thread is a little old, but I just wondered if you got your Blue&Me media player sorted with your TomTom? Ie were you able to persuade the dealer to replace the unit, did you buy a new one or did you pick up a newer version 2nd hand. The reason I ask, is that I specifically bought a TomTom to use the Media player functionality, and there isn't an icon for it, so it isn't supported. Your posts have been very useful in establishing that my B&M unit is too old, however, I too am poised to go to the dealer to complain. As far as I'm aware, there isn't anything to say it won't work with my car.
Thanks in advance.

A Blue&me Tomtom? There should be a blue&me icon under preferences all the time. Once it has synced you get the car icon with phone, trip data and media controls.

Hi, Yes its a B&M TomTom 2 live. All functions work except control of the media player for which there isn't an icon. Previous posts would indicate that the B&M unit fitted in the car is a 1st generation, (and I have confirmed mine is 1st generation), which does not support media control through the TomTom. The advertising literature for the TT via Fiat website indicates that it can do it and shows pictures of the icons etc. Just it appears that it can't in reality unless the car has a second generation B&M unit. Cheers.

I found some blue&me units on eBay
Item number: 290788252975
£125 plus postage
It's used though and doesn't state if its the 1st or 2nd Gen model.

On ebay, Fiat PN is 51867602. This seem to be the old blue&me (ver 5.x) because this PN is mounted on Grande Punto 2005-2008, 2008-2009, GP Abarth 2007-2010

On my car (Punto 2012) the new blue&me (ver 6.x) unit seems to be Fiat PN 51902811. This unit is mounted on newer cars : Evo 2009-2011, Evo Abarth 2010-2012, Punto My2012 2012-..., Nuova 500 2007-2012, Nuova 500 Abarth 2008-2012 and so on...

Not sure, but this is I can see in parts catalog...

Hi,
Just a quick update. I decided not to pursue getting a 2nd generation B&M unit, or try a fight with FIAT to get them to replace my 1st generation unit with the 2nd. I traded and got a newer Punto with the 2nd gen unit. I can confirm that this solves the issue with control of the media player from the TomTom.
Bit of an extreme measure, I'm sure you'll agree, but I just want something that is advertised... to work!
Cheers.

Thank you for your update !

Yeah, this is an extreme measure :) But I think that you have other advantages than "just" the blue and me v2 ;)

Hi,

I recently purchased a Fiat Bravo T-Jet 150 2007 reg, battery ran flat (was the original battery, just died on me) and killed the blue and me system (blue and me buttons on steering wheel wouldn't function for blue and me purposes and couldn't connect my phone or access menus, would play music from a USB stick but I couldn't skip songs). Took it to Fiat Dealership (Vale Motors in Wincanton), they fiddled and re-programmed the unit and made it so that i could skip songs on my USB stick, but said that I needed a new Blue and Me unit to fix the blue and me side of it. They quoted £444 for the part (part no. 51862515) and £100 (all inc VAT) for labour. Big NOPE moment.

Long story short I had a look on eBay and purchased a used B&M unit (part no. 51826504) for less than £20. Took the used item to the same Fiat Dealership and they fitted it in about 30 minutes, charged £50 inc VAT, all now works as new.

Also, when the battery died the electric front windows wouldn't function perfectly. The one touch wouldn't work (hold down the button for 2 seconds and they go up/down automatically) and holding down the lock or unlock button on the key fob wouldn't make the windows go down or up as they used to. Said fiat dealer was able to fix this in 5 minutes and didn't charge any extra for it, i guess if that was your only issue then they would charge around £10, so worth a trip!
