Got an engine management light today . In the panic I turned around and went home. I read the manual, and then went outside, fired the engine and all was fine.

It was something to do with the MultiAir (EBOD (european onboard diagnosis) system fault) and basically the owners manual said it's a system which monitors the emmissions. It's a fualt in the supply/ignition system. It also said if flashes then damage to the catalytic converter would occur, which it did flash whilst I was driving.

Well I'm going in tomorrow because of a few interior trim issues so I'll just mention it to them and see what they say.

P.S The interior trim issues are the air vent along the windscreen isn't flush down on the right side and the little cubby whole under the fog light buttons broke (Blank2k2 had the same issue I beleive).

Eek, scary! good job we have a warranty just incase!

Yeah that little cubby hole, it seemed to "work" fine but when closing it went up square, rather than on the funny angle it should of closed at, plus it felt kinda cheapy, in the end i accidently (really i did) knee'd it while it was open n getting out of the car at the dealership... played a "piece of **** fell apart in my hand!!" card... they fixed it no problem, ever since its closed & been perfect and feels as equal to quality as the rest of the car, got a fair bit of weight in there atm too (£20 worth of change lol)

Glad to see somethings are the same from the s1 gp :D

they should finish it off when the go for the OBD computer plug in port

FFS, they still can't fit the windscreen vents properly. Next week you'll be winding down the window and opening the door from the outside. Thought the Evo was meant to be progress - hopefully this is just a one off. It won't be though.

Lol C'mon guys.... did anyone SERIOUSLY expect an improvement with the Evo? Pretty new frock (depends on opinion) changes to interior, but basically not much different. I bet parts suppliers are the same...

Ya gotta lurve Fiat (y)

Seems strange all my faults were on 1 half of the car, i think there's just a lazy (more so than normal) Italian at the factory.

Also as a note: one of my side rubbing strips (yeah, same side as all the other faults ) is coming away from the bodywork... if it gets worse ill get em to sort it asap but its not rush job atm.

Right now i don't mind, warranty all the way (y) ... though, all these trips to brislington is starting to make me take note of petrol gauge.

I'D just like to point out that the vent trim is a completely different design from the grande punto. Not like that's an excuse buts it's not sticking up in they way the grandes did as it's not sloped up where the grandes did. But still GRRR!

Count yourselves lucky... Not only do I also have a broken cubby hole and a satnav that refuses to connect the blue and me...

BUT...

I had a woman reverse into the side of me in Tesco's car park today :(

Big dent on the passenger side door and rear panel next to the wheel arch and taken alot of paint off aswell. Called insurance company earlier and reported it, had her insurance company call me up earlier telling me she was liable and I would get it all fixed and a courtesy car for free.

If I would have had to pay for my excess, I would have had about 20quid to last me till the 1st June

Got a repair company ringing tomorrow or Tuesday to arrange for it to go in to get fixed. Gonna take it back into my dealer when its done and finally get the satnav and cubby hole fixed i think.

I think I've calmed down alot since earlier on but I was beyond pissed when it happened :p

Take it to the dealer, the TomTom (if its saying "No Bluetooth Detected" on the TomTom Screen) its fixed by a new Blue&Me Control Unit.

the cubby hole seems to be a standard complaint now i guess, whoever that lazy italian is needs to be sacked, but yeah take it to the dealer and say the cubby holes not right n they'll sort it.

I've had both problems, all solved now.

as for the crunch :bang: i'm still pretty much parking my car at home & walking to the shops!
atleast they've admited liability, so not too much stress... still, argh! new car!! >.<

i was gonna say that yesterday but...............................anyway , whats this 'cubby hole' everyone is talking about?

Below the lighting controls (right knee), theres a cubby hole there (can see the handle on pic ) mine personally when i recieved it, felt VERY cheap/tacky/flimsy compared to the rest of the car, and it didnt close very well, hand to be pushed over to 1 side to shut properly, but i knee'd it by accident and the dealer fixed it.... ever since the things felt just as well built as the rest of the interior, so it was obviously flawed in the first place.

MrBoney's was the same, he broke it because he pushed it to 1 side to close it properly & it gave way.

I'd guess Danmalone has the same issue...

This makes it even more odd to me. They go to the effort of redesigning the vent, but failed to address one of the most common (albeit minor) issues that effected the Grande Punto.

Not the end of the World i know. Id rather have this than some of the major faults that effect other makes of cars, but it just seems odd that they didn't whack tonnes of adhesive or something round the vent this time, just to make sure it didn't do a Grande.

I also have the same issue with the cubby hole,, some times it closes to the left overlapping the trim,, but a push to the side sorts it,, not sure if i should get it seen to,, not really a major prob but a nice we place to keep my USB stick.

Thats the one.

I sense a recall , has everyone had this problem so far then?

Take it back, tell them it doesnt close square and we've all had the same problem.... trust me, it feels like a cheap crappy little cubby hole now but once its hooked up properly it feels just like the rest of the car quality wise, closed well, feels strong etc.

Although its a known issue here the vent problem might not be a issue elsewhere.....like springs breaking on many Fiat models here but nowhere else therefore its not a priority however I think even aliens on mars known about the GP dash trim issue!

I also have the same issue with the cubby hole,,

is it the spring behind the cubby hole thats giving the problem?

Sadly a recall is only likely if safety was compromised. However, they MIGHT (if theyre really on the ball) issue a service update thingy, so all Evo's get the part modernised when theyre in for other work.

I didn't realise the spring snappage was mostly just the UK. Mind you, i suspect we have the biggest craters in Europe along our roads, so it makes sence. The trim thing just baffles me - it's almost a wasted trip to the dealers just to get that stuck back down. At least if something major breaks you get your moneys worth outta the fuel to get to the dealers!

Theres a spring??

Closer look on the cards i think,, im guessing theres a plug behind here like in the Gp for servicing & the like,, does the PDI require hook up?

Maybe the mechanic never put it back together properly.
