Hi all. Just swapped the Qubo for a 500 1.4 sport. good fun so far. A quick question, the only way I can open the hatch is with the remote. Should I be able to open the hatch with the finger switch under the numberplate light? If so I think it's likely to be failue at the point where the cables flex between body and hatch, or the switch itself.

Yes, provided the doors are unlocked.

The boot switch, earth's the signal cable that connects to the bcm(using the number plate lights earth wire) that sends a signal to the lock servo to open, so back and forth if you earth the right wire out of the 3 going to the number plate lights it should trip the boot lid open, if that works then you know it's the switch if not it's the hatch wiring.

Problem sorted. After dismantling it all it turned out to be the hinge on the finger plate which had siezed up. A squirt of WD40 and a good wiggle freed it up and all is well. Can't imagine how that happens.
