Its curious to see what other people do with there tools?

I like to them to be okay, since its a dirty job, its kinda hard to keep the clean clean
But slightly grubby does me

A quick wipe with a baby wipe usually does me


So what do you do with your tools?

About the only tool that really gets dirty of mine is the 12mm hex key for the sump plug, as I almost always drop it in the basin Even then though, I just wipe it on my overalls and get on with it.

I clean mine usually with a rag soaked in GT85 or similar i also keep my torque wrench and socket sets smothered in it after every use thru winter to stop them going rusty bit of common sense after use and as and when through winter / damper months

I clean my tools as I dirty them, saving having to clean them then

they wont suck it if you don't wash it

Nah I don't bother. Got some of my halfords pro kit covered in past due engine oil today, made a reet mess lol.

a clean tool always helps ....

i give mine a quick wipe with a cloth

A clean tool is a happy tool lol

I have same problem but I wipe it on a nearby cloth

oil on all the sockets stop them from rusting >_< does get annoying though sometimes so i clean them "As i see fit"

Every time................whatever tool is used, its cleaned, sprayed with WD40 type oil, or wiped with a oily rag before being put back in its alloted place. That way I know whenever I need it again, days, weeks, months, its all ready to go..................

just avoid the bodywork with them torque wrenches

Thats where having some steering angle applied helps

I prefer a 2cm Extension to just pull it away from the body

But number of times i've contacted

cant do that on the back though

when we stripped russ's brakes i gave him the torque wrench with a 4" extension and 17mm socket on,. never noticed him take the extension off and he had a bit of an accident with the knurled hand grip and rear 1/4 / arch most seemed to have polished out though

Have a big clean once a year and then they're all dirty within a week again
