I'm getting a CB radio for the Stilo, having a 5ft mast mounted on the roof :ROFLMAO:

Random question that I'll put to the vote though, what do you think will be better for the antenna?

A) Mag mount like

B) Roof bar mounted mount, mean I'll constantly need the rear roof bar on the Stilo.

Jon.

CB - I still got all my gear somewhere, including various rigs, burners, mounts, aerials.

Mag Mount really used to scratch my car, if you want to play it safe get a rear boot mount or go with the roof bar.

I was never legal  used to run a 200 channel sidebander - two aerial mounts on the car, plus home had a 7/8th wave Sigma 4 aerial, with a nice 300W Bremi Plate n Load burner ---- oh yeah :D

No idea, need to look at the clearance - back in the day, I used to have a Pug 205 and then a Clio, and they had all manner of fittings - but I was never really bothered about the damage they caused back then.

All depends on the size of the aerial - I seemed to go for real heavy beasts on mine, which took their toll on the mounts.

Ta. Think I'll probably go for rear roof bar option then as its going to be the best at not leaving any marking/damage etc to the car.

Haven't had an aerial on the Panda yet, but have had aerials on a couple of Hatchback Focus's as i'm a Radio Ham.

Mag mounts aren't bad depending on what type you buy. If you do alot of motorway driving you want to make sure that it's going to be stong enough not to pull or slide loose (seen that happen before). This means either buying a Magmount with a very large magnetic surface or you can by them that have 3 magnets set onto a trangular Base.

As has been mentioned you need to make sure that you place something between the mount and the car to protect it from scratches, on the magmount i used in the past i glued a felt pad on the underneath (same sort of felt that you seen on the bottom of ornaments to stop them damaging delicate surfaces.

The alernative that i tended to use instead was a Hatch Back mount, something like ebay item number 220473824096 (just put it into the search bar on ebay).

The advantage of these is that as long as there fitted correctly they won't slide off and are normally cheaper to buy than an equivalent mag mount.

The advantage of the mag mount over the boot mount is that as it normally sits in the middle of the roof it gives the aerial a better ground plan.

Hope this Helps :)
