Does anyone know of any independently tested performance figures for the 100HP?

Autocar, Car and EVO mags have all driven the thing but besides Autocars attempt (and failure) to record a 0-100mph in the recent group test no one appears to have strapped test gear to one.

Wow - that is a comprehensive test.

Under 9.5 secs to 100kmh - which I think is 62mph. I assume that is a reasonably fresh engine too - so we should be in the low 9s with a few smiles on the clock to 60mph.

Over 100hp too (or is that some European measurement?).

Not much point revving past 6,000 rpm either - 5,000 for max torque-ability.

Bellissimo Schwenck, excellent tests and great reading.

Interesting disparity between the two magazines 0-100kph times (9.46secs versus 10.2secs). Given the former as a guide then it might just be possible to hit high a 8's 0-60mph with a perfect getaway in a well run-in car using Ultimate/V-power/Optimax fuel.

The measured 180kph top speed is also bang on the money against Fiat's claim. Did you notice that the speedo was indicating 191kph (120mph) when the top speed was measured (6% fast)? A healthy tail wind and decent gradient would probably have the speedo showing around 130mph and the revcounter needle lying somewhere beyond 6000rpm.

Magic!

And I bet in New Zealand you have some excellent roads on which to prove it as well!

Might be wrong but doesn't the Panda's gearing mean there are two changes before sixty which makes 0-60 times less flattering than it's real performance.

Many moons ago I had a Suzuki Swift GTi which at the time was the quickest to 60 amongst it competitors on paper because it did 61mph in second gear.

I use a road about an hour from me for max speed runs, it is deserted, dead straight and level for 5 miles but a little bumpy for the really high speed stuff. I've run my Cooper S there at an indicated 146mph with wiper arms and radio antenna removed, wing mirrors folded, ice on the intercooler, octane boost in the petrol tank but otherwise standard. My Rav 4 (we get a higher powered one over here) has shown 131mph on the same section of road.

The rest of the country has roads that are so enticing and so perfect for urgent little cars like the 100hp that I fear for my licence every time I go for a drive!

Er, right :D

Sounds like sir has a boost uprate going on there?

Hi Trefor,

the engine was left untouched, the ECU was tricked into thinking it was a cold day as intake tempreatures were lower due to a combination of ice cubes laid on the intercooler and a 300ml bottle of 101octane additive poured into the fuel tank. This was enough to notice an increase in power and a sharpening of throttle response.
Ironically the last and fastest run of three attempts was carried out without ice as it had run out by then and the throttle response was noticeably softer. The car was running 98octane BP Ultimate, this is the best we get over here.

I think you're right Ian, a couple of tenths would come off that time if you could lose the second to third gearchange. Just don't mention the 0-100mph time as no one has actually managed to measure it yet and cracking high 30secs would be quite a feat!

used a G-tec meter and got 9.7 seconds to sixty with luggage in the boot, is that an independant figure? lol
Yes.

Independent of everyone else's!

Was is a baguette or luggage for a family of five on a round the world trip?

Interesting to see that on this thread there is a coach tour around New Zealand advertised.................coincidence?
