General Aftermarket bluetooth & USB from Blaupunkt

From what I've read their add ons only work with there aftermarket headunits. Didn't someone here try the ipod only adaptor?

We need an owner to pull their headunits out and see what ports are available at the rear, then we can work out what might fit.

I will do this when I get my car - but that's another 3 weeks or so away.

T/.

That's exactly what I meant I was going to do this week.

I've found a company that's selling them at appr. 110 euro not far from my place!

I called them and the guy said that it would only work for aftermarket models, because it uses a port that only aftermarket radios have. I told him that the radio in the Panda did have a CD changer port, since that was an option, and he said that that was in fact all that was needed.

I'll drop by this week to see if it can be made to work in the Panda :p

Won't now be doing this as the radio doesn't work properly and I've got to wait for a new one. Turns on OK but none of the buttons do anything!

Didn't even leave the forecourt!

Actually, found the problem now, one of the steering wheel buttons was stuck down...useless dealers kept taking the headunit out and poking it to no result but it was my missus who found it because, in her words, "this one doesn't click when you press it".

Considering the size and build of the car I'm quite impressed with the sound quality so hopefully your hifi pack should be really good. I was beginning to wonder if I should've waited for a built to order one to include it but I'm quite happy given the fact nothing was going to come close to the Volvo.

Darn. Seems the radio in the Panda is hooked up with almost every other part in the Panda: all connections on the radio were taken. The guys said that I'd loose the steering wheel controls and the console display (Don't care about that one actually). So, it was a no-go.

Anyway, the thing was pretty big, too: about 5 by 3 inches.

:(

Probably wouldn't have worked anyway as Blaupunkt do make a point of saying none of these add ons work with their OEM headunits.

With regard to the connectors, did you check this yourself? There must be a spare for the optional cd changer and it is this connection that these devices use.

They might have many reasons for saying that. I just don't believe they'd make separate head-units. It would be unnecessary costly for them. Obviously, selling their existing units with a different front panel makes much more sense.

I did: check the attached picture. The BT/USB thing was using both the green and blue plugs, which, as you can see, are occupied in my Panda :(

Very useful picture and I believe proves my point, Blaupunkt use the blue mini ISO connector for cd changers etc on their aftermarket kit, the OEM Fiat versions uses the yellow mini ISO which as you have shown is unused apart from that one wire.

This is very good news for me as it is the other connections to the yellow one that I'm hoping I can attach an aux input to and was wondering where I could source a plug, appears you get one free with every car :) .

Actually, if you'd looked at the link to the Italian site you asked me for you should already know all this!

Uhm, not of much use, this picture, but apparently the yellow plug doesn't have any other connections?

Interesting, the wiring diagrams I've seen definitely have connections. Can you get a picture that's legible?

Not possible now, since the radio is back where it was and I don't have those U-shaped keys to get it out. But rest assured, if you have those keys, you can easily take the radio out. The cables are long enough so there's no need to disconnect the power and no need to enter some security code.

Okey cokey, I'll dive in when I get a chance, thanks.
