have any one come accross this problem

the engine failure display on and it affecting the gear changing,
every time the gear change the engine will rev higher unill it complete the gear change. the is like in manual car, when you change the gear manually but you forgot to lift off your foot from the accelerator so the engine rev.

this also causing the computer not to change the gear at the correct time.

send to fiat to diagnos but they not sure why, so they just reprogram the ecu.
it cured for about 4 hours and it come back again.

just now i set the gear to "N" and turn off the engine. wait 1 minute and turn on the engine and the "Engine Failure" display disappear.

havent check whether gear changing disappear as well. do it later as working at the moment

now i recall that someone in other forum having the same problem but Fiat not able to diagnos the problem as well

On my first dualogic I got a "gearbox failure" warning but the gear changes carried on working normally. It turned out to be a bad earth connection. There was also a suggestion that a batch of the wrong type of brake light switches were causing problems.

care to eloborate, might as well i check it
where to check the earthing wire?

Sorry I don't know where the bad earth was but I suspect it had something to do with the instrument panel and steering column as operating the screen washer stalk turned the warning message off.

reading thru all the post on the problematic of selespeed in the forum...

found out suggestion to disconnected the battery for a longer time that might solve the problem.

follow the advice, disconnected the battery for more than 8 hrs, connect it back...walla ....no more engine failure warning.

but also notice the duologic ecu response to the gear change is a bit.....not smooth like previous.

do the ecu have the ability to rearn our driving style?

hopefully the resetting will produce permanent cure.

Must remember that, disconect the battery for 8 hours, may come in handy one day.

I think that the ecu does have to relearn things so it may get smoother a time goes on.

Found this is by searching for selespeed problems. Sounds a barmy fix but it's free and could be worth a try!

" tried the little-known 'selespeed reset procedure' which, believe it or no, involves opening and closing the driver's door 9 times in a row.

Did that procedure twice and it came back to life, albeit badly changing gears - slipping clutch at high revs. This got better, seemingly as it re-learnt its settings.

"

must try this "short cuts" if it happen again but i really hope it happen soon while my panda still under warranty, changing the duologic is not a very pleasent experience (the pocket actually)as i was told

doesnt really works (resetting 8 hrs & bang the door 9 times) as the error intermittenly comes and off when i bang the door 9 times. i am suspect look like loose connector as banging the door cause the car to shake.
some suggestion there possibility due to brake switch. i just wonder which one?

it really baffel me...the problem now cured without any repairs. electronic germelin or loose connection

for a week now no engine failure message appear???
