Hi, anyone wired up the lighting of aftermarket gauges in such a way that it dims with the dash gauges? My panda is a 2010 100HP.

No idea if its safe to patch straight into the dash lights circuit.


Might be worth asking in the I.C.E even though its not audio related.


The instruments lights aren't in the wiring diagrams I was looking at recently. But every other bulb goes both through both the body computer and connected to its CAN bus. Except for the fog lamps.

Any idea whether the instrument cluster is fitted with LEDs or regular lamps?

AFAIK normal bulbs.

You could fit lower power bulbs into the instruments or if they are LEDs put a dab of paint on the LEDs to block some light.

Take a look at the instrument panel dimmer control. Maybe you can take a feed from that to power your aux instrument's lights. It will then be a matter of choosing bulbs to give the light output you need.

I'm suspecting that dimming is controlled through the CanBus, which makes it difficult. That's why I have raised the query.

If it's canbus controlled you will have little option but to go the relay route or fit less bright bulbs to the instruments.

I would be surprised if instruments lit by ordinary bulbs use canbus but who knows. These may be of interest -
