how can i tell if my boot catch has the switch for the light as i am thinking off fitting the boot light

Most reliable way might be to locate the connector for the light and check it with a multimeter (or a bulb). That way you will know for definite.
Should be under the trim near to the hole where the light should be. See the fitting guide for photo to locate if necessary.
Check it with boot open and closed with seat back folded forwards.

thanks for that i was looking for a micro switch ill give that a go first with a bulb as i have one on wires and clips before i find a light hoping it has one its a 2009 1.2 eco version

As far as I know


If the tailgate opens with all the other doors the light will just work. Just plug and play


If it tailgate only opens with the key it will not work.


I have just got a Punto one but not fitted it yet.

thank everyone just tried the wire and bulb and it works with boot open and goes out boot shut so happy days just need the light now and all sorted it is central locking as well so you could well be right on that
