Hi, is it possible to mount front fog lights and electric door mirrors on my panda mk2 1.3 mjet from 2009, and how difficult will it be? Is the wiring already there or do I need to put in some wiring myself? And where can I find the button for the foglights and the switch for the electric door mirrors?

Unfortunately I don't know. Not sure anyone can give you a definitive answer. As an example. Two Dynamics both 2005 had completely differently wired fuse box in the engine bay and different number of fuses inserted into the body computer.

If you have the original owners books it lists the fuses.

First port of call would be to check that the wires are present at the fuse box. A visual inspection of where the fuse should go to make sure both contacts either side are present

Back in 2005 when I was ordering my Panda, I was told that without ordering air-con I could not order the electric door mirrors. I think it was to do with the ECU. May not be compatible. I do have foglights though. There should be blank buttons beside the hazard light switch.

Most likely the dashboard/floor wiring loom

I think you will be correct.

Its unbelievable that even the wiring for the cigarette lighter doesn't always go all the way to the fuse box in the engine compartment. Even though the plug by the handbrake is always there

I remember a thread on here where I asked for a photograph of the fuse box and I would compare it against mine as it was the same year and model. They were nowhere near the same.

Most cars have a loam the contains everything and its just a mater of adding things. As long as it was an option for that year its not normally a problem.

But not in the case of the Panda.

Interestingly there's a parallel thread running in the 500 section just now.

Aftermarket fogs with a separate switch & power supply should be straightforward enough, but if you want OEM fogs & all the functionality to work the same way, it'd likely be cheaper trading the car in for one with fogs fitted as standard.

Electric mirrors are purely switch and motors

Battery power into fuse 23 (engine bay) into ignition switch out to fuse 49 (passenger compartment) into switch then 5 wires out into the motors.

No ECU or body computer

Heater for heated mirrors goes through the body computer.

All the other lights through the body computer but can't find daylight running wiring.

It's actually quite expensive for a manufacturer to make a car with wiring for an accessory or gadget that's not fitted, if you think just £2 more in wiring cost, soon adds up to a lot of money when you might be making 200,000 cars a year in one factory, and rest assured £2 for this wire and that en some extra plugs for a device that's not there, can add a lot to the cost of making the car, so these days almost all manufacturers eliminate any waste by having every wiring loom ordered specifically for that car and delivered to the factory on a 'just in time' basis.

Sometimes if a supplier is unable to deliver the correct loom or its in come cases cheaper to add a few extra wires than change all the tooling, then you get lucky and find some extra bits you weren't expecting.

FYI your Panda is a mk3 not a mk2 ;)

Not in the last 20 years or so, since the use of canbus systems. Cost saving you see, as explained above. (y)

Going aftermarket also allows you to use LED lamps. They give a better light and use less power than halogen bulbs.

If you get long range pencil beam lamps, you will need a relay so they cant be used with dip beam. If you get wide angle lamps as "fogs" make sure they are not cone floods as they will dazzle and be useless in fog. They need to make a flat/fan shape beam.

Fortunately it is possible, unfortunately my English is very bad to explain.
First, I set the switch in a scrapping, but it is possible to buy it:

Also the mirror, for example:

Then just connect according to Elearn. In my case the mirror is not thermal:

Only three wires from the switch to the mirror through the door, but it is possible that there are pre-installed to the "A" pillar. That was my case:

We exchanged:

Then, the cables are passed through the door to the mirror and only connected.
