Guys & Girls,

I spotted a Chip Tuning Box on Ebay from seller "chippower24uk" which says its suitable for the Panda 100hp...but I thought the 100hp's ECU was locked, no to fiddling etc.

So is this chip tuning box legit or a scam?

I have no personal knowledge of this seller, but judging by the mistakes with English and grammar in his listings, my own feeling would be to steer clear.

Maybe it's just me - but if a firm can't take the trouble to get an advertisement right, I wonder how much trouble they would take with their products, or their after-sales customer service?

Others may feel differently.

I can't be bothered to research this upgrade but have looked into them in the past.

Most just raise the rev limit. This does increase the BHP by increasing the number of explosions per minute. More explosions equals more power but more revs equals less engine life and any increase is only at the top end.

Most cars respond best to being optimized on a rolling road to give a small increase throughout the rev range.

But its not cheap. Expect to pay for a couple of hours on the rolling road

I don't know whether its possible with the factory ECU you would be better emailing someone like "Dave Walker "

Hi,
As HP said this is not a ECU remap device, it just messes with signals to the ECU. Typically this is air temperature for petrol engines or fuel rail pressure for diesels. Both result in the ecu running the engine richer than it should. With the diesels the ecu does not know there is extra fuel so it reports better fuel consumption.
Complete snake oil and a waste of money.
They appear to be based in central europe. The address given seems to be a forwarding service or bookeeper. There are 15 companies registered there, none match the name of the ebay seller.

Don't expect too much from any ecu-mapping of a 1.4-16v, since it is standard already programmed to its practical limits. A lot is promised sometimes, a little is allways delivered.
This engine needs o e or two hardware changes before a remap can really make it shine (e.g. cams, porting).
A 1.0 fire-engine makes 50hp, this 1.4 already doubles that... If you want a substantantial amount more, you need a turbo (= t-jet, and then you go well above 200hp).
