Hi all,

First post, and I know it's been asked a good few times. I've looked and keep seeing different answers.

What engine oil does the 100HP take? My manual says Selenia 20K, which appears to be 10W/40. I've also been recommended 5W/30. Also, what type? Synthetic, semi synthetic?

Thanks all

Hi and welcome to Fiat Forum.
Selina 20K is ineed a 10W40 oil. It's a matter of persoanl choice to some extent, but I use synthetic oil in any car I intend to keep. A lot of oil selectors will suggest 5W40 because it is more common for newer cars. It is slightly thinner when cold but I'd ave no issues with that. Personally I'd use Morris Lubricants Multivis CST HP 5W-40 you can buy online

either of the 2 grades listed above are fine. in the uk, it may be worth using the thinner oil in the winter months. the selenia stuff recommended is most likely for hotter climates like italy anyway.

frequent oil changes are more important than the type of oil in my opinion. i always use semi synthetic 10w-40 in all my cars. this ranges from my cinq and girlfriends 100hp to my rx8 and starlet turbos of varying levels of modifications.

The 100hp isn't particularly highly strung so regular changes are more important than brands, 5w/40 or 10w/40 is fine.
