Hi everyone

I been trying to get a replacement rear axle for my 53 plate panda 1.1 no ABS with drum brakes. Been told they are like rocking horse poo to get. Please could anyone advise if any other model or make would be ok to use?

Thank You Dale

What's your reason for needing one?
If not damage or catastrophic failure then repair & repaint may be the best option.
Have seem 3 or 4 with rear beams whos owners have been told need replacing, which only had surface rust. One of those was really just dirty.
Secondhand beam may well be no better in that case. They aren't really rare, but the price seems to have been pumped up lately by lots of scare stories and bad advice from garages.

If bent or failed then any of the non-disc brake models from 2004 to 2011 should be fine. You can transfer your non-abs hubs & drums if needed.

Thank you
Rear axle is mainly ok but the cup that sits under the coil spring on driver's side has collapsed nearly bent in two the other side is cracking. Bought a welder gonna try a repair fingers crossed
I.E other models( just incase)would punto rear axle work ? They are ten a penny

Not a chance, without major surgery.

Panda beam is best option. In my fairly limited experience ones from pre-2007 seem to have better paint coverage than later ones.

Slightly scabby is OK. Avoid ones with deep flaky rust.

Still possible to get them at reasonable money - try some of the people breaking up just one Panda, especially if it's being broken for engine or gearbox failure. Offer to remove it yourself if necessary.

Dead easy to remove with a battery powered impact gun, 2 axle stands, side cutters and a jack. Only 6 bolts, 2 nuts, handbrake cable and brake pipes.

(Even done it with a 2 jack's, 2 pieces of telegraph pole, and an impact driver, but if you tell health and safety I will deny all knowledge. And it was an emergency - car was just about to be crushed)
