So daughter has a 55 plate panda, was doing a few bit under the bonnet and noticed that the trough that is right under the windscreen inside the engine compartment was full of water, trouble is I can't get in there due to the restricted access to drain it or clear the drain which must be in there, can anyone offer some help please ??

All cars have some sort of drain in that location. They tend to get blocked by leaves and dirt, which as you say, make things difficult.

You need either a straightened-out wire coat hanger to poke into the drain holes, or access to a compressor to blast it. I'll bet if you went to a tyre place and asked them to blast the drain holes with their compressor, they'd do it for free.

Not found the drain holes yet, any idea where they'll be or will I find the info in the Haynes manual ?

hi,:)
search DUCKBILL on here, ;)
many exhaustive threads, :D

once cleaned .. they should be good for another 6 months.(y)

charlie - 13 years of a panda active

I have a 2008 Cross and there are two rubber-duckbills to drain the gutter. I have removed them and they are permanently out and that area is now forever bone-dry. Yes, I know opinions are divided on this as this might lead to more fumes entering the car. I am sceptical of this; it will enter the car anyway if there are any. If you don't do a lot of city or traffic driving, this is even more appropriate.

All sorted, found the duckbills tucked away at the back of the engine compartment. totally blocked but not anymore :) Thanks for the info all !!

Under the trough you feel rubber duckbill, one under driver wiper the other under passenger wiper . Basically behind back of engine can,t miss them they block up with leaves ..

Have a 2009 panda multijet found rubber bung in the middle of the bulkhead under wipers allowed water to drain straight into engine compartment on to the road.
