Yes mk1 ran to early 1986, then the mk2 took over. It was sold until about 1994 in the UK (up to about M reg).

The mk3 was launched on 17/1/2004 in the UK.

Across in Italy the mk2 continued in production more or less until the mk3 was launched there. (y)

Hi people does anyone know when the mk1 finnished and the mk2 started in the uk.If their was a year or years gap what happened?

I was courious about the age gap

If you mean the gap in UK Panda imports between the mid-90s and 2004, presumably Fiat decided that the UK market could be adequately covered with the Cinquecento/Seicento and Punto (which then sold incredibly well) and that they didn't need a third small car in RHD. Given that the Panda was then aging it would have made sense to cut it from the UK (and Ireland, presumably) but it evidently continued to sell well enough in LHD markets for it to remain in production and on sale there.

(Going back to the changes of c. 1986, although the bodyshape is basically the same, pre-1986 cars are very different from those that followed, which used a version of the Lancia Y10 platform and were re-engineered under the skin).
