Hi,

I have a 2011 Panda Cross 4x4 with the 1.3 Multijet engine.

I have a diesel leak in the engine bay and can constantly smell diesel in the cabin.

The diesel is coming from the side with the high pressure pump but Ican't find out where. There is fuel present at the level of the pump and downwards. However I've tried drying all seals etc and running the engine to try and find more fuel coming from the leak, but I can't find anything.

I've heard that sometimes the pump can leak when the engine is heating or cooling down and doesn't leak the rest of the time. Is this correct? Could this be happening?

If so do I need to replace the high pressure pump?

I've tried searching on the forum but either the search engine isn't doing the trick or I'm searching for something too specific.

Anyone with any input / experience would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Mine started to leak one morning. Fine when I left home but it quickly went to being quite a noticeable leak. I replaced mine with a used one from a scrapyard as a reconditioned one was going to be around £650. There are places where you can get them serviced and the seals replaced but I just needed the car back on the road asap.

What fuel have you been using? Mine was around ten years old with around 100K done.

I've just been using standard diesel from supermarket petrol stations. It'sbeen like this for over a month so far and doesn't seem to be getting worse, but the smell is annoying. I'll try replacing with a 2nd hand one and see if that does the trick.

Yeah, the high pressure pumps can leak.
Quite often they leak from a cover and I believe you can diy a seal swap, though it is tricky as there's a spring and some parts held by the cover plate.

This engine is shared with the Vauxhall/Opal Corsa C and seal kits are available on ebay.
They badge it the Corsa as a 1.3 CDTi and you might find more on swapping the seals on one of their forums.

There are even Youtube guides to replacing these seals, though you might need a translator for this one!

I had a multijet the front plastic pipe. Had fractured thus leaking when engine was running.fiat wanted £600 so I went to Vauxhall explained what I wanted and got the part next day for £4 off the Corsa same engine

My thread started on 23/1/2017 (multijet hp fuel leak) page 9 at the moment will provide info on diy repair of the pump.
The airfilter needs to come off and the wet areas degreased so that the exact source of the leak can be found.
I replaced the seals in my pump and bought a new pump to common rail pipe for about £35.
