Hi, just brought a 2003 Panda 1.2 as a first car for my girlfriend and I. Got it cheep with 215.000km on the clock, but stil in nice condition all things considered :)

But, it does have a problem whit the brake lights not coming on at all, i have read alot on the forum, and checked the brake switch, it seems just fine when testing with a multimeter, I looked at the fuse for ABS/stoplights in the motor compartment, and at the fuse in the drivers side fuse box, both ok.

The running lights, reverse and fog lights all work on the back of the car, but i cant figure out where to start looking for the problem with the brake lights.

Any ideers ? :)

I'm not being silly , check all the brake light bulbs.
I see a lot of cars with both brake lamp bulbs failed at the same time.
It's worth checking.
 
Okay, ill take a look after work, but the center brake light is also out, inst that like 5 bulbs that would be gone at the same time?

That would be several filaments burnt out at same time.
It can happen and is easy to check.
Check by looking at filament and using a multimeter or connecting to a battery.
 
A Mazda 3 came to me twice . First visit brake light left hand burnt out and high level burnt out.
One week later right hand brake light burnt out.
Yes it's unusual.
 
Okay guys, the plot thickens...

So the bulbs are okay, the fuses are ok.

BUT when i measure at the two wire coming to the brake contract down at the pedal i have 0v across and 0v from either one to ground..

So that must mean that its in front of the contact somewhere that i have a faulty connection, or am i missing something?

Does any one have a diagram om the brake light circuit so i know where to look in the car?

The two wires going to the contact seems to go out of the fire wall in the main wire bundle and in to the fuse box in the engine compartment.

You have done the test I was going to suggest after bulb check, checking for volts at brake light switch.
if you know which fuse protects the brake light circuit check that it is live with ignition switch on. use your meter between ground and the metal of the fuse both sides of fuse.
If the fuse for brake light protects other circuits check those circuits work.
 
I have been trying to find the fuse allocations for your 2003 fusebox/s online without luck.


I did see that 2004 punto classic has a fuse for brake lights plus a separate fuse just for the brake light switch.


I expect you checked all the fuses but if not check them all.
 
DONE!

After scratching my head at the track (track and field) i came home, looked at other connections in the car, in the passenger seat, by the door there is a small connector whit a "lock" the lock was loose, but you could not see that the connectors did not interact, plugged it in, and, boom brake lights AND the sunroof also suddenly worked ! :D NICE

Do you mean connector is near where the passengers feet are , if you have a passenger, near the passenger door hinges?

That would be good of you to post fuse layout for others.
