If however you are saying some Americans change their engine oil more often than others, well that's fine
Getting back to the UK, one of my vehicles is an old 1.3 turbo hack & it's recommend an oil & filter change every 6 months, more often than not that's usually 5000 miles or less for me. It has a timing chain & it likes clean oil. I've had this vehicle for about ten years or so, 140,000 miles on the clock, do a lot of stop/start driving. I religiously change the oil & filter twice a year & it's ticking over like a clock.
On a final point of interest, I remember back in the 80's I knew some Escort RS turbo petrol heads who used to change their engine oil every 2000 miles, even for me that's a bit over the top, but you certainly would have a clean engine.
