Hello,

Had a search but couldn't see an obvious answer.

Top mounts have gone on the wifes little 100hp so want to replace both rear dampers. Having had a little search the Koni STRT sound ideal.

Just gone to purchase some however and all the sites I've looked at (larkspeed/europerformance/dcperformance) all have these listed as excluding the 1.4 100hp.

Is this just down to the issue with the top bolt (i have no issues machining a 12-10mm spacer) or is there more to it?
Or am i just being stupid and there is a specific version for the 100hp - if so could someone give me a link, i cant seem to find it!

Thanks in advance.

Luke

I noticed this too. The previous owner fitted the rear Konis on my car, so I can't say for sure, but I think people have just been fitting the the standard Panda Koni's to the 100hp.

I think it's unlikely that Koni would make a specific unit for the 100HP given the numbers.

My springs are looking rough so I plan on changing these soon. Looking at eibach pro. Are you changing springs too? If so what are you getting?

100hp has lower stiffer suspension, so needs different dampers to suit. Fitting ones intended for the normal softer models will not work properly, affecting the ride and handling. Can't say how, but there is a risk.

That's my thought too but if you look back through a lot of the posts regarding 100hp rear dampers loads seem to have fitted the STRT dampers. I'm thinking the "excluding 100hp" has been added more recently to the product description.

Thanks for the links Bad Panda, those seem quite pricey - the STRT rear damper units lots of the old posts refer to are around a £45 a pop. Its only a shopping car for the wife - if the 'proper' 100hp units are that much then ill just chuck another set of OE dampers on it.

I've had the STR.T's with Eibach springs on for a year now, highly recommend them. Gives the car a much more quality feeling ride and improved chuck-ability. They were changed to not suitable for the 100hp due to the sleeve issue on the rear top mounts. I just bought some tube from eBay and all good.

So the normal "excl 1.4 16v 100HP" can be made to fit, work well and don't cost the earth.

Question is are the expensive non-UK eBay ones that are labeled as suitable for the 100HP actually different, or is it just labelling?

If they are different is it just the top bolt hole diameter, or is it more fundamental internal stuff or length?

Probably need to contact Koni or phone Larkspeed to get answer.

Got the Pro kit, didn't want it too low as I live in London and we are fond of a speed bump round here. It does sit about 30mm lower which I think is perfect.

Try these:

Just for anyone looking ive found these for £24 a pop:

I cant post a link due to my post count but:

Thanks for all the other information, i had a feeling the STRT's had been marked as excluding 100hp recently - i looked at them when i first bought the car and I'm sure they weren't then.

Not heard a bad word about them so will probably go for them and chuck in some 12/10 glacier bushes.

Thanks again.

Yep. I'm probably going to do the same.
Those eBay ones labelled for 100HP don't make sense as they also say they are suitable for the 1.1 & 1.2 and the part numbers are same as the yellow Koni Sports.

Spring options seem to be:

H&R - which come with the Koni kits
Eibach - rated by FF users
Both will drop the 100HP 10mm if at all.

Spax - bigger drop of 25mm, but dearer.

Although I also came across this Bilstein/Eibach kit for the same price as the Koni SRT.T/H&R kit.

https://www.italo-tuning.de/12830/eibach/bilstein-b12-pro-kit-fahrwerk-ca.-30/30mm

Labelled as suitable for the 100HP and I believe the B12s are supposed a level up from the STR.T, competing with the Koni Sport series.

Source?

Actually only these codes are available for the Panda:
8750-1086L
8750-1086R
8050-1106 (2x)
You mean you have this kit, but with a protection on the rear ones?

Do you know if someone fit the Novitec springs?

Then I think I need new rear bump stops (in the other thread simone mounted the shorter Fiat Coupe versions), do you have some advice, code, link?

I think this is the stuff I used. You only need the 200mm which works out at £10.95

Yes, they are the part numbers for the shocks. I didn't buy a kit, I just bought them and the springs separately from Larkspeed. The Coupe bumpstops were sourced from Shop4parts.

The 100HP reportedly already has a firm ride so lowering another 25mm is likely to ruin the handling on all but billiard table smooth roads.

It doesn't ruin the ride as such, combined with decent quality shocks it cures the standard setups tendency to bounce.

I would disagree. If you were just changing the springs then possibly that would be the case, but most people here are talking about using them with uprated dampers. Obviously these kind of things are subjective, but I have had the standard setup and the Koni/Eibach setup for a year each now and in my opinion the ride and handling is far superior with the latter.
