just having my 2009 multijet in for a 1st oiland filter change and service light re-set, Just wondering if I am doing right thing as the service light has not come on can they still re-set the light?

It will take the mechanic 5 minutes to check the ECU codes. A good Tech will always do this as part of the service.

Presumably brakes, air filter and other service items are also being checked out.

Hi,
Yes they can and should reset the service interval, even if the light has not come on yet.
If your Multijet has a DPF they also need to reset the oil degradation counter in the engine ECU. This requires Fiat specific software and is in addition to the service interval reset.. You should ask the garage about this.
