They don't sound like the paintwork scratching types... Unless yellow is an unlucky colour in Japan?
Unlikely it was them... I'm sure they're used to ugly small cars in vibrant colours.

(From someone who was given a bright green Micra as a courtesy car)

I still think it's a local that did it.A tourist wouldn't scratch every panel and break glass (in the night?) because of a photo-bombing car in a pic.
As for colours in Japan,I know white is the colour for death. The company I work for made a product for the elderly (to sell mainly in Japan),the fact that it was white (colour of death/mourning) and the product name sounded like "Old fart" in Japanese slang,it didn't sell!.
I would joke about the colour yellow/Japanese but won't,as it's racial and stereotypical .Although a few years ago we (Wife, myself and a friend) went to see a gig in Oxford,as we were walking through near the center,a bus dropped off loads of Japanese tourists as we passed, all three of us were forcefully split up by a mob of Japanese people taking photos of everything in sight!

Still wondering why "Move Freddy" was scratched on the bonnet?,was "Freddy" a nickname/known nickname for the car??

Indeed the Japanese tourists love photos and selfies. I encountered a bus load when my boys were quite small (aged 2 and 2 months). They all were trying to get selfies with my two in their pram as my boys had very blond hair which apparently is lucky! Had to try to shoo them away.
