I still think it's a local that did it.A tourist wouldn't scratch every panel and break glass (in the night?) because of a photo-bombing car in a pic.
As for colours in Japan,I know white is the colour for death.The company I work for made a product for the elderly (to sell mainly in Japan),the fact that it was white (colour of death/mourning) and the product name sounded like "Old fart" in Japanese slang,it didn't sell!.
I would joke about the colour yellow/Japanese but won't,as it's racial and stereotypical .Although a few years ago we (Wife,myself and a friend) went to see a gig in Oxford,as we were walking through near the center,a bus dropped off loads of Japanese tourists as we passed,all three of us were forcefully split up by a mob of Japanese people taking photos of everything in sight!
Still wondering why "Move Freddy" was scratched on the bonnet?,was "Freddy" a nickname/known nickname for the car??
