100HP specific trim parts, especially the external ones, are generally hard to get. The rear beam, if sound, will likely fetch good money. A quick search of ebay and the like for the major bits should tell you what you need to know.

On thing I'm curious about; now that you need a certificate of destruction to get the car off the DVLA database, how do folks generally get rid of what's left at the end?

As an aside, whilst there's no problem with discussing the topic generally in the main forum, if this does get down to offers & wants for specific parts, please do it in the classifieds ;).

out of interest what is a complete HP in "ready to break" condition worth?

sub-£500..?? the wheels and engine/box are worth that.

good point about the paperwork.., (y)
been a while since I've scrapped a car - however as long as you sell the shell to a yard - then that's the only traced / marked part.

What colour and year is it? I may need a few bits but please PM me if you like.

What I'm wondering is how easy it would be to get a yard to take it. In some areas of the country, you'd likely have to pay them quite a lot to collect just a shell. They are well aware that only licensed breakers can 'officially' scrap a car.

Yes, technically you cannot "scrap" a car (dispose or dismantle an end of life vehicle) in the UK unless you have a licence. This is to prevent pollution an fly tipping. You might find that your local council will arrange collection FOC just to stop it being dumped, but this varies a lot. As noted before, at current scrap steel prices a bare shell is not worth the cost of picking up. Also note there are separate laws relating to air-conditioning systems. It's an offence to release the gas.

car owes me £500 id expect it to be worth double in parts

What is wrong with the car that makes it not worth fixing?

It may be easier and not much less value (compared to stripping it yourself) to sell as spares or repair.

Scrapyards / breakers will pay less than £50.
