EOBD warning light appeared this morning on my 2004 Panda 1.2 Dynamic, symbol static, not flashing, have booked car in for diagnostic check fo Thursday, any tips on questions I can ask at my fiat garage on their diagnostic test results.
Is the car ok to drive or will I cause any damage to Ignition, emmisions system ?
Thanks for your time and suggestions.

You can get a simple code reader from eBay for probably around £12 maybe cheaper then pop the fault code into google to find out what's up with it.
You'll save yourself a fair few bob.

Thanks dozer, EOBD warning light not showing today, decided to cancel appointment with Fiat garage for diagnostics test, will order code reader and take it from there.

I doubt the dealer will be able to do anything either. The code only gives a clue to what the problem is. When I was having warning light trouble it a new battery and cleaning the ECU connectors cured it. Not come in other two years and 10,000 odd miles now.

If took it a dealer I can't help thinking they would have wanted to charge me £1500 for a new PAS unit and another £1000 for a new ECU :D Maybe I am cynical but I have zero trust in FIAT dealers.

With a good code reader, or the free version of Multieuscan, plus a bit of research on the results, anyone can save a fortune - and learn how their car ticks at the same time.

Much better and cheaper than being given the bums rush by a dealer.

Absolutely! The cost (even for a set of cables AND a registered copy of MultiECUScan) is less than most dealers charge for one diagnostic session, and you can use it as many times as you need.
Just don't skip the research bit. Otherwise it is easy to replace parts that are fine, just because there is an error code that "could" point to a particular component. (A bit like some dealers have been known to do when faced with something a bit unusual) - Even if you fit the parts yourself it can become expensive and frustrating. Always worth checking the forum for information once you have read the error codes.
Pandas have been around long enough for most types of problem to have occurred to someone by now.
