Hi,

I renewed the brake pads and discs on my Panda (2009 Dynamic Eco 1.2 Petrol).

All went fine but my Haynes manual says that the wheel on one side should have a wear sensor and one came with the brake pad kit I purchased, but I did not see one. Do some models not have the wear sensor, or did I miss it?

Thanks.

It's typical for brake wear warning lights not to be fitted on lower trim level models. The connector is normally held in a bracket on strut so pretty obvious. Just leave it off if there is nothing to connect it to. To be honest having one sensor for four pads is only useful for normal wear, if a caliper sticks there is only a 25% chance that the sensed pad is the one with most wear.

My daughters 1.1 basic active had new pads yesterday and there is NO wear sensor included anywhere. One pad had 1 mm on it so we just caught it in time.

If your pads are wearing uneven then the pad carrier probably has corrosion on it where the pads sit. Tight pads in the carrier further backs this up. Use emery tape to clean where the pads sit, also emery the new pads where they sit. Then use a smear of copper grease on the carrier and where the pads sit. Don't get grease on the disc or pad friction surface. Also where the caliper rotates up off the pads on the pin check that this isn't seized by sliding side to side.
