Remember also that prices in the USA are always stated exclusive of tax; VAT alone accounts for 20% of the difference.

Also consumer protection rights are much stronger in Europe, and the cost of providing for that has to be built into the selling price of the product.

What I find harder to understand is the price disparity between the US & Canada; a source of much frustration and annoyance to many Canadians, I suspect.
