Off Topic Theoretical Replacement of the Panda...

Given that the 2003 169 Panda sold until 2012 until 9 years old, I would have assumed as Fiat's now second priority (to the 500 lines) it (and the Punto too probably) would be stretched in production for as long as it sold, so say another 9 years until 2021, in its current form I'd imagine sales would drop as the typical non-Fiat fan would simply compare dealer spec-lists and regard the Panda as too expensive for what it offers etc But with a refresh or facelift (and no big raise in price) I'd say it could do well until 2021 even?!

With the 500, I'd be disappointed if they made it larger. Especially for their unsuccessful US market, I think Fiat is on the down over there unfortunately, and sales of the Renegade are whats keeping them relevant to the American consumer?

Hope the 500 doesnt end up like the Beetle with VW, which is completely out of touch with its original 20th century idea as its now a large almost luxury like option costing around 16k.. would hate to see a 500 that loses touch of being a stylish, compact car thats reasonably priced :(

Still, with the 500 getting Fiats main focus, that gives us Panda fans hope they really will keep the new prices down and focus on function and value rather than complex electrics and expensive design choices. :slayer:

When was the current Punto released? Shape wise, I know they've had different names for it as suffixes like Evo and Grande or am I missing something?

2020 wouldn't surprise me, but the charts displayed by Fiat last year were still saying 2018 for the next Panda. We shall see. By 2018 the basic underpinnings will be 15 years old...it wouldn't surprise me if the 319 runs for less time than the 169 (the 319 was supposed to be launched in 2010-11 but was delayed by the recession).

Current Punto dates from 2005, though the nose has been altered twice. Vauxhall's Corsa is based on the same platform and was reworked comprehensively last year, so that presumably will run till about 2021. However, the Punto now is still basically the same as it was in 2005.
