What doese the panda say ? Ticky ticky ,what is this tapping noise. The sound does not occur all the time, no matter if it's hot or cold. The sound comes when he wants, but after you press the acceleration ,the sound start faster and after you reach ~2400rpm,sound disappear and is a chance to come again when you stop the car.

when i press clutch ,dont disappear.
About intensity ,depend ..for example ,today was more quiet.

I'd go with tappets. Remove the oil cap whilst the engine is running (to see if if the sound is clearer), or better still use a stethoscope (as used by GPs) to locate the sound, but obviously be careful as there are many moving parts when the engine is operating.

My car sounds remotely similar and neither 1.1 or 1.2 8v engines used hydraulic cams meaning that every 2 years (24,000 miles) they would need to adjusted (not in the same way a rocker would) but by using new valve shims.

Many on here will tell you that replacement isn't necessary as it is normally within tolerances and FIAT certainly don't change them as part of their ''routine servicing''. My particular Panda was ex-motability and after 7 years, still has the original valve gear (inc. shims).

That said, something as simple as low oil can cause heavy valve noise. Just look at any Vauxhall petrol (Corsa especially).

Matt.

The oil cant be a problem, have 3 day. But can be dangerous ? can damage something or what can happen if i dont change ?
